A Witch's Fair Well wordcount to date: Sixty thousand, eight hundred thirty-six.

I really just wanted to spell out the numbers so they'd seem even bigger. ;) Don't mind me.

As of almost midnight last night, I passed the 10,000 word mark for this month. Woo!

The breakdown is as so: 6617 words of A Witch's Fair Well, 468 of The Fall of All Kings, 291 of Mystery #1 (as yet untitled), 394 of Gina's Tale, 1894 of this month's [info]genrechallenge - Fiction - that story's finished and I'll post it in the comm as soon as my beta is finished with it, 747 words for the weekly Multiplex over at [info]sandykidd, and a 100 word drabble for [info]csi100.

Given that I only get, at most, 3 hours per day to write, and I actually average only one and a half hours per day, I'd say I'm doing pretty good for the month. But I'm not done yet! I'm hoping to ramp up my pace for the next week so I can knock out another 28K before the end of the month.

Yes, I want to write nearly triple what I've already written in the next sixteen days. Yes, I'm going on a four-day trip part way through that time. Yes, I'm crazy, and I know full well that I probably won't hit that number. Trying is going to be fun, though. Crazy fun. XD

I was rereading some of what I've written recently, and some of it struck me as particularly funny. It could've just been the mood I was in, but I figured I'd share some of them with y'all.

These are all from chapters 15 and 16 of A Witch's Fair Well )

I always hesitate to say things like, "This was a good writing day," because honestly, any day that I write is a good writing day. But today sure was a good writing day. And it's not even over yet! I've already written over 1500 words, but I could probably manage another few hundred before bed tonight. Hee!

All this during nap times and while the babies were playing nicely on their own. XD

53,907 is the wordcount for A Witch's Fair Well, to date. That's 110 MS Word pages (single-spaced). That's 14 complete chapters at an average of almost 8 pages per chapter.

I'm five days into it and I suspect the whole story will complete itself within its next two weeks, but though the pace of the plot seems to quicken a bit from this point on, I estimate that I still have about another 100,000 words to write before it's finished.

I started writing this story in November of 2004, and here it is June of 2007... I doubt that's significant, especially considering that I wrote the original first chapter of The Fall of All Kings way back in 1997.

Incidentally, I'm at 16,806 words for The Fall of All Kings, which is further with the story than I've ever gone before. In fact, this the first time I've taken it past the first chapter - I'm nearing the end of Chapter 4, now.

I just did the math and realized that I've already written 72,276 words in 2007. Damn. If it weren't for the fact that I so enjoy all the different projects I've been working on, I'd almost say it was a pity that all those words weren't just for AWFW.

Of course, I actually want to write another 271,423 words this year... That's about 38,775 words per month... I guess I'd better get back to work. ;)

I know it's no huge thing, but I wrote my way 786 words closer to publication today. Go me!

I wouldn't even bother posting about it, but it was a page and a half of the tricky [for me] stuff that I'd been halfway avoiding writing for the past month and a half. I don't know what it is about fight scenes, but they inspire my braincells to operate in super slow motion. The words that move the story from the tidy placeholder I put in before I wrote the scene (they fight, Al wins) to the battle's aftermath and beyond seem unwilling to come. I had to fight for every adjective and to keep my pacing appropriate to the scene. And even though I ultimately won, I still feel as though I skimped on the vampire action. I could be wrong, though; they were mostly there as insurance providers, anyway.

Someday, I'll need a third beta reader. By 'someday' I mean 'not before the end of this year'. A Witch's Fair Well needs to get through my husband and my super secret secondary beta reader. Any takers? :)

Hello everyone!

I suppose that, initially, most of those who come along and friend this journal already know me from [info]sandykidd or [info]spatter_spatter. Eventually, I hope this journal will become friended by an army of squeeing fangirls and fanboys who've read my [someday] published works and want to get to know the author [me] better. That's right, folks. Someday, I'd like to be famous and adored like my author friend, [info]ladyofthemasque.

Until then, however, the things I post in this journal will be for my benefit only, so they'll mostly be locked. Except this one. This is the entry that folks can reply to if they want to be considered for friending. When you reply, please tell me something about yourself. It doesn't need to be your life story or anything linking you to your 'In Real Life' self, per se, but I would like to have a sort of bead on the folks I welcome into my parlor. If you get my meaning. Of course, if you're already a friend of one of my other journals, you don't need to tell me anything new if you don't want to. Just let me know you want in here, too. :)
